Continuing the saga begun with Power Rangers: The Lost Galaxy, Rescue Task Force Lightspeed picks up back on Earth three months later, with a team of Rangers wielding powers created by a special government project known as Lightspeed.

Ancient forces of darkness are awakening on Earth, forces dedicated in service to the Dark Empire. Demon commanders, now rising from their imprisonment, send their armies out to conquer Mariner Bay, a city built on top of a massive leyline. Between them and their goal stands the special goverment task force Lightspeed, a group of Rangers brought together and armed with technological powers. But even that may not be enough, and a prophecy fortells the return of the powerful Demon Hunter, who once sealed the demons away long ago...
